THE 2009-2010 CABINET

The District Governor's Cabinet consists of 28 members: the District Governor, Vice District Governor, Cabinet Secretary, Cabinet Treasurer, Immediate Past District Governor, four Region Chairmen, twelve Zone Chairmen, five Elected Committee Chairmen and the Presidents of Camp Dat-So-La-Lee and Lions Quest.


Susan Lydon
District Governor

Susan Lydon was born in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. She moved to Hays, Kansas, with her family when she was 3 years old. Susan lived in Atlanta, Georgia, for 1 year before moving to Las Vegas in 1974.

Susan married PDG Ed Lydon on May 17, 1997. She has 2 children, Laura, age 22, and Andrew, age 18. Laura recently graduated from UNLV, was married in June, 2008 and plans to be a teacher. Andrew recently graduated from high school and also plans to attend UNLV> Susan also has 7 step-children and many step-grandchildren.

Susan has worked in commercial lending in the banking industry for 30 years. She is currently Sr. Vice President/ Sr. Credit Officer at Silver State Bank. She obtained both a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She is also a graduate of the Stonier Graduate School of Banking.

Susan has been a Lion since 1992. She has served at the club level as 100% President, treasurer for 5 years, numerous other officer positions and a Board member for 15 years. Susan is a member of the Las Vegas Breakfasters club. She was elected District 46's Vice District Governor at the District Convention in Pahrump in April, 2008 and has become the District Governor for the 2009-2010 term.

Susan has participated at the district, multiple district and international levels of Lionism for many years. She has been Region Chairman, Zone Chairman, Youth Exchange District Chairman, and currently serves on the Budget & Finance committee. One on her best times in Lionism was serving as a team member on an eyeglass clinic trip to Mexico. Susan has received an International President's Certificate of Appreciation and a District Governor's Appreciation Medal.

Susan believes in education at all levels of Lionism. She has attended 3 USA/Canada Forums and is a graduate of International's Senior Leadership Institute.

Susan is a Melvin Jones Fellow, a Helen Keller Fellow (twice), a Life Member of the Lions Eye Foundation of CA/NV, an Audrey Bacum Tail Fellow of the Blind Center of Nevada and a Vince Vinella Fellow of the Student Speakers Foundation of District 46.

Susan is also active in other organizations within the community. She recently received the Glass Ceiling Award as a Woman of Distinction, sponsored by the National Association of Women Business Owners. She is on the Board of Directors for the Make A Wish Foundation of Southern Nevada.

Jack Epperson

Jack Epperson was born in Oakland, California, in October 1948. He attended Bay Area schools until leaving for college, then spending three years as an Army Systems Officer.

Jack has over 30 years of experience in business management and consulting services to emerging businesses. He began his career as a developer of computer operating systems. He went on to establish small companies to provide computer support services to government agencies. He grew these firms and served as President and CEO of both public and private corporations. These companies focused on high technology research and information technology support for NASA, Department of Defense, and other agencies of the federal government.

In 2002, he and his partner sold the last company to the employees via an employee stock option plan. Jack and his wife Mary moved to the Dayton area where he works as a part-time instructor of Business Management at Western Nevada College, Secretary of Dayton Valley Lions Club, and is an officer of Knights of Columbus. He also served on Boards of non-profit organizations and is a member of the American Legion.

Jack has a BA in Business Administration and MA in Public Administration. He is a graducate of Lions Senior Leadership Institute, past President of Dayton Valley Lions, Melvin Jones Fellow, and Thomas Cook Fellow. He has enjoyed extensive recognition as a Lion including Region Chair of the Year and International President's Medal of Leadership.

Bob Steenbergen
Cabinet Secretary

PDG Bob was born in Tucson, Arizona, on December 29, 1936. His family spent the World War II years in Colorado, and moved to Yuma, Arizona, in 1946. Bob attended school in Yuma and graduated from Yuma Union High School in 1955. He attended the University of Arizona and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1959. Bob worked as a Flight Test Engineer for General Dynamics Convair at Vandenberg Air Force Base until 1964. He attended Standford University and graduated with a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering in 1965. Bob worked for 30 years as an engineer and computer specialist for EG&G, Inc. in southern Nevada. He retired in 1996.

In April 1989, bob joined the Las Vegas Executives Lions Club where he served as club secretary for seven terms. He was club president in 1994-95, and Lion of the Year in 1996-07. In 2007 Bob transferred to the Mesquite - Virgin Valley Lions Club. On the district level he served as Zone Chairman (1996-97), Region Chairman of the Year (1998-99), Vice District Governor (1999-2000), District Governor (2000-01), and Cabinet Secretary (2005-06).

Bob was a 100 % Governor. He has received two International President's Certificates of Appreciation, the International President's Award, the International Leadership Award, and three District Governor's Appreciation awards. He has served as Executive Director for Lions Quest, and he is also a trustee for Lions Camp Dat-So-La-Lee. Bob is a progressive Melvin Jones Fellow. He holds life Memberships in the Lions Eye Foundation, Lions Camp Dat-So-La-Lee, Canine Companions for Independence, Leader Dogs, and Guide Dogs of the Desert. He is also a Dwight Stanford Fellow and a Harry Aslan Fellow.

Bob and his wife Diane have been happily married for 38 years.

Don McMillen
Cabinet Treasurer

Lion Don was born in Los Angeles and raised in Burbank, California. He is a San Jose State graduate with a degree in accounting and finance. He is a Vietnam era veteran having spent most of the time in Alaska.

Don and his wife, Fran, have been married for 43 years, have three children, Angela, Tony, and Maria and have four grandchildren, Allysse, Nicholas, Lexie, and Dominic. They have lived in Reno for the past 39 years. He worked for the State of Nevada Taxation Department, and he was the District Manager for the last five years. He retired in 2003 after 34 years with the Department.

Lion Don has been a member of the Reno Arch Lions Club for 34 years, was club president in 1992-93, and is currently club treasurer. He is also a Melvin Jones Fellow.

He enjoys playing Bridge, country line dancing, hiking in summer and snow shoeing in winter, he singes in two church choirs.
