Dear Lion:
Congratulations on your new leadership role on the club level! At the present you are my key contact until your
Student Speaker Contest Chairperson is appointed. We had a gratifying district contest in 2008-2009 and,
with your help, we will aim to double the participation this new Lions year.
To help reach our goal, our district has already selected the topic for 2009-2010 speaker contest. It is:
"Why the Escalating Violence Among Our Youth"
We will also provide your club, free of charge, a packet of materials (official handbook, worksheets, posters,
information sheets, etc.) at our first cabinet meeting end of July. This early start will give your club a headstart
to contact schools in your community during August & September.
As you know, on the club contest level, every participant receives a cash award. The winner is awarded $75.00
and each finalist is awarded $25 cash. All you need to do right now is to request for this packet.
